
Professor Dr. Tarek Okasha is Professor of Psychiatry at Ain Shams University.
He has made significant contributions to the development of educational programs for psychiatry in Egypt.
He is the Director of the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Collaborating Centre for Research and Training at the Okasha Institute of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University. He founded the Psychiatry unit at Misr University for Science and Technology, and is a visiting Professor of Psychiatry at to the Psychology Department in Cairo University.
Dr. Okasha holds notable positions in the scientific community, he is the recipient of the WPA Presidential Commendation and was a member of the WPA Executive Committee as Secretary for Scientific Meetings from 2008-2014. He is President of the Arab Board of Psychiatry and the Chairperson of the promotion committee of professors and assistant professors in psychiatry at the supreme council of universities in Egypt. He is also the editor in-chief of the Middle East Current Psychiatry Journal.
Dr. Okasha is the President of the Egyptian Alzheimer Society, and is an executive member of many international associations and organizations such as the Egyptian Psychiatric Association and the Egyptian Society of Biological Psychiatry. He has published over 70 papers and contributed to 30 books on both the national and international levels. He has supervised more than 85 masters and doctorate degree thesis.
